    POSITION PURPOSE:

    The Speech therapist SLP:

    • Evaluates participant’s communication, cognition and swallowing abilities
    • Provides goal directed, activity oriented treatment to promote optimal communication, cognition, and/or swallowing skills.
    • Ensures continuation of performance through effective education of the participant, family or support system.

    Is cross-trained to support Respiratory Therapy in incentive spirometry and diaphragmatic weights

    Responsibilities

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    Licenses or Certifications:  Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and/or has current Clinical Fellowship Year plan, Licensed or licensure eligible in state of Oklahoma, Current CPR certification.    

     

    Total Education, Vocation Training, and Experience:  Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience: Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology preferred Three (3) years of rehab Speech Pathology experience preferred       

     

    Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, participants, families Protect confidentiality in all areas as applicable Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations in occupational therapy practice Ability to keep accurate records and write meaningful reports Ability to execute therapeutic procedures and manipulate special equipment accurately and safely

     

    PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION:

    Position has Limited Access to Protected Health Information of participants on caseload.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    Indoor climate-controlled environment.  Participant care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids which may carry infection to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards.  Occasional travel with exposure to outdoors elements
