  • Overview

    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Reimbursement Specialist submits accurate and timely claims for all insurance company(s) for payment of service provided. Verifies primary insurance and secondary information with system information and maintains accurate files according to Medicare and or other payer guidelines.  Accurately and timely communicates with facilities regarding accounts receivable.

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

     

    Licenses or Certifications: N/A

     

    Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.  Proficient typing and PC skills, general knowledge of accounting. Minimum one year relevant experience which includes knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Mutual of Omaha, Trailblazers, Blue Cross, Managed Care and generic commercial insurance.

     

    PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION:

    Position has Full Access to Protected Health Information of patients

    Excellent telephone skills; Good judgment and resolution skills; Ability to adapt to changes in how information is processed;

    Ability to interact in a positive manner and communicate well with, co-workers, supervisor, and clients.

    Ability to perform computer skills.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    Indoor climate-controlled environment. Occasional travel with exposure to outdoor elements

     

    MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED

    Equipment used for patient care. Office equipment such as computer, FAX, telephone, copier, calculator, etc..  Assumes responsibility for equipment, inventory, safety, and security of assigned facilities. Equipment and keys checked out to employee is to be kept in working order and must report lost, broken, or stolen equipment immediately.
